I set up Blue Bull in 2016 because the recruitment industry was doing my head in.
I'd watched agencies charge massive fees for candidates who didn't last the month. I'd seen CVs forwarded without being read. I'd dealt with recruiters who vanished the second the invoice was paid.
And I'd been on the other side of it too - as a salesperson myself, getting put forward for roles that were nothing like what I'd asked for, by people who clearly hadn't listened to a word I'd said.
So I thought: sod it. Let's do this properly.

Phillipa has worked in sales, business development, sales management and recruitment. She's cold called. She's been hung up on. Been told to F off. She's smashed target and she's missed it. She's managed teams and she's been managed by terrible bosses.
Charlie grew up watching all of this, decided it looked like fun (questionable judgement), and joined the business at 17. He's now 19 and runs the day-to-day recruitment.
He sources candidates, screens them, manages the process and somehow still has the energy to argue about whose turn it is to make the brew.
Between us, we've sat in a lot of sales seats (and a front row view of the rest). That's not a marketing line. It's just true. And it's why we can tell the difference between a brilliant salesperson and someone who's just brilliant at interviews.
We've won 19 industry awards along the way. We were finalists for Disrupter of the Year at the British Business Awards. We didn't expect any of that when we started. We just wanted to do recruitment without being embarrassed about it.

Sales background spanning BDM, sales management and recruitment. Published author. Neurodiversity advocate. Ex-RAF and Air Traffic Control. Runs on coffee, honesty and stubbornness. Will tell you the truth even when it's not what you want to hear. Especially then, actually.

Joined the business at 17. Now runs BD, candidate sourcing, screening and placement. Ice hockey player. Gen Z energy meets proper work ethic. If he sends you a CV, he's spoken to that person, grilled them and decided they're worth your time. Doesn't do bull. Does do results.

Doesn't recruit. Doesn't bill. Does provide emotional support and unsolicited opinions about lunch choices. Undefeated in office staring contests. Believes all candidates should be judged on biscuit-sharing willingness. We can't argue with that to be honest
Not "resources." Not "headcount." Not a number on a spreadsheet. Every candidate we work with is a person with bills to pay, a career to build and a life outside of work.
We treat them accordingly. Every client is someone trusting us with their money and their team. We take that seriously.
If a candidate isn't right, we'll say so. If we can't fill a role, we'll tell you before you waste three weeks waiting. If your job ad is putting people off, we'll tell you why.
If you are asking too much or paying too little you'll know. You might not always love what we say, but you'll always be able to trust it.
We will never flood you with CVs. You'll get a small, carefully selected shortlist of people we genuinely believe can do the job. If that's two CVs, it's two CVs.
If the right person is sitting in front of you, you don't need ten more "just to compare." So please don't ask us to do that, we won't!
We're not just screening candidates for you. We're screening you for them. If a brilliant BDM asks us about your company, we need to be able to tell them why it's worth their time.
That means we'll ask you direct questions. It's not awkward. It's how good recruitment works and it's how we work.
Seriously. If you can't laugh about the rejection, the ridiculous objections and the prospect who put you on hold and never came back, you're in the wrong job.
We love sales (but it took time!). We love the people who do it. We just want to connect the right sales people with the right companies.
